2. The tree of knowledge

The tree of knowledge of good and evil stands on the earth. At the top is the Holy Communion chalice, the cup of the new covenant with which Jesus instituted the Eucharist. The path of knowledge finds its goal in Christ and communion with him, manifested in the bread and wine of the Church. The dove, symbol of the Spirit, of Adam and Eve - the circles of yellow and blue - from the root and trunk of the tree to the chalice. The heart-shaped crown of the tree is divided into twelve parts, the number twelve is common in the Bible as a symbol of God's order on earth. Twelve tribes in Israel, twelve apostles in Jesus, twelve are the showbread in the temple. Red and white in the image are two frequently recurring colors in Hilma. They stand for God's love and truth.
