15. Holy Jerusalem

In the final chapter of Revelation, John sees a cube coming down from heaven, a symbol of Holy Jerusalem. It is an image for the Kingdom of God, the City of God, and the dream of a return to a new Eden. But the Kingdom of God is also here and now, the Kingdom of God is within you, Jesus tells the disciples. With the rope of love, the dove/Spirit lowers the holy city to mankind. The rope divides into twelve parts, the twelve apostles and twelve tribes are a recurring theme in John's depiction of the holy Jerusalem. Twelve are also the gates to the eternal city. The cubes in yellow and blue again represent Adam and Eve's striving towards unity with God and each other. Love is the goal that conquers and overcomes all difficulties.
